Seniors surfing web more than ever
A
recent survey by the nonprofit group Pew Internet & American
Life Project has shown that internet usage among seniors in America 65
and
older has increased by 47% since 2000, making them the fastest growing
group of online users. Currently 22% of seniors report having internet
access and 94% of those communicate using email.
Other findings regarding online usage by seniors include:
- 66% have used the internet look up health or medical information
- 45% have sought information about a certain medical condition
- 59% have searched for information about a specific disease or medical problem
- gender gap among wired seniors is 50% men and 50% women
