Frequently Asked Questions

What is usually involved when someone enrolls in a study?

Participants are often pre-screened and educated about the study by telephone or in the clinic. A memory of our research staff will review that study and obtain consent in a confidential meeting. Often the first visit includes medical questionnaires, a physical, bloodwork, EKG or MRI scan, memory assessments, and assessments of mood and daily functioning. Return visits are anywhere from monthly to every 3-6 months, depending on the study and its length. Some studies last 9 weeks and some 2-3 years.

Do I continue to see my own doctors while in a study?

Yes. You would continue to see your own doctors while in the study. We encourage participants to let their doctors know about their involvement and communicate with them regarding any medical issues that may arise.

What if I want to withdraw from a study once I'm enrolled?

You are free to withdraw from any study at any time.

What happens after the study ends?

You will be given the option of continuing to be followed in one of our outpatient programs (e.g., Memory Clinic) or having us provide a summary for your health care provider.

Are you recruiting for any studies?
